Sovereign Gold Bond Holders Can Redeem Early Starting October 15, 2026

Premature redemption permitted after five years with price linked to recent gold rates.

The Reserve Bank of India announced that holders of Sovereign Gold Bond 2019-20 Series V, issued on October 15, 2019, can redeem their bonds prematurely starting October 15, 2026. This follows government notification allowing early redemption after five years. The redemption price will be the simple average of the closing gold price (999 purity) for the previous three business days before the redemption date.
